Browsing within the attics is among Charlotte now Clifford’s favorite pastimes. ‘Attic shopping’ she calls it, and ‘basement shopping’ comes a detailed second. ‘If I’m searching for that perfect addition for an area, the attic room is the initial place I attempt,’ states Charlotte now. ‘And it really works too – I haven’t needed to buy much furniture.’
As she and her husband Peter have experienced greater than 10 rooms to refresh, Charlotte now has spent a number of hrs within the attic room. ‘I’d show my treasures to my mother-in-law Janie, and everything I discovered would spark some wonderful tale by what it had been employed for previously,’ she adds.
Peter and Charlotte now started their renovation of among the world’s best homes – Frampton Court in Gloucestershire in the middle of the British countryside – in This summer 2020.
The elegant country house has been around Peter’s family for a lot of generations but, states Charlotte now, is way too grand and costly to reside in like a home. SPACE TO ENTERTAIN

It had been built-in the 1730s by Richard Clutterbuck, whose family had made their fortune as clothiers. Frampton Court grew to become his party house, where he entertained his buddies lavishly, encircled through the luxuries of his time.
‘I would ever guess the doorway hall filled with his visitors, experiencing the warmth in the huge fire,’ states Charlotte now.
It had been that vision of opening Frampton Court’s grand doorways to provide a warm thanks for visiting visitors once more that steered the pair with the renovation.
Concentrating on the primary rooms downstairs, Charlotte now and Peter labored tirelessly for four several weeks, alternating DIY and decorating with searching after their two youthful children in their own individual home nearby.
‘Peter and that i tag-teamed many of the time, so certainly one of us could be sanding floors here, as the other could be in your own home doing bath occasions and bedtimes.’
